Classroom Lessons, Career Success

Kelvin, a graduate of UCHE's Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management, is now a supervisor at a renowned restaurant. As an alumnus featured in UCHE's 20th-anniversary magazine, he shared his journey from student life to the workplace, showcasing how he transitioned from the classroom to a successful career.

Back then, Kelvin's DSE results were not outstanding, but after visiting several schools, he chose UCHE's Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management program. He shared that UCHE's curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice. Teachers used vivid case studies and engaging teaching methods to create lively classrooms with excellent teacher-student interaction. This teaching approach not only enhanced his professional knowledge but also sparked a deep interest in the hospitality industry. Additionally, the internship opportunities provided by the school were invaluable. Through hands-on experience at star-rated hotels and catering groups, he participated in daily operations, learned how to handle emergencies, and improved his ability to think on his feet, laying a solid foundation for future workplace challenges.

After graduation, Kelvin applied what he learned to his work, excelling in solving guest issues and enhancing the restaurant's image. However, he acknowledged that communication skills remain a significant challenge in his job. He hopes to communicate more effectively with his team and clients in the future and encourages current students to cherish their learning opportunities at school and develop strong communication skills.
